Nordcurrent is the new owner of Cinemaware’s recently delisted titles

Publisher Nordcurrent announced earlier this week that it has purchased publishing rights to Cinemaware’s classic roster of PC games from Starbreeze who originally purchased the studio’s properties back in 2016. This confirms the speculation that the recent delistings of Cinemaware’s remaining titles on GOG.com were indeed due to the change in ownership. Cinemaware’s titles on Steam had been delisted shortly before that in December.

“Since the inception of our PC games publishing division less than three years ago, we’ve been on a mission to build a robust business unit for PC and console games. Acquiring Cinemaware’s catalog is a crucial step in this journey, providing us with opportunities to enrich our portfolio with well-known titles,” said Nordcurrent CEO Victoria Trofimova in a post published by GamesIndustry.biz.

There’s no telling now how long it will be until we see the likes of Wings, Defender of the Crown, and Rocket Ranger again but at least Nordcurrent appears to be bringing them back in one form or another, some day.
