Bandai NAMCO announced this week that the free “Lite” version of Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 on PlayStation 4 will be delisted on March 23rd and replaced with a new free offering around the beginning of April. According to the support site, this will not impact the Lite (Trial) version of the game on Xbox One.
The Lite release originally launched in 2019 and spun out some of 2016’s Xenoverse 2 content into a free-to-play title with limited story missions and multiplayer modes. The Lite version was delisted on the Nintendo Switch in 2019 but did not see a replacement like we’re now expecting on the PlayStation 4.
No explanation has been given for the odd situation. Since it is said to return with the exact same content, it would seem to be related to something specific with the PlayStation 4 version. Bandai NAMCO’s full announcement follows:
We would like to announce that “DRAGON BALL XENOVERSE 2 Lite ” will be terminated on March 23, 2022 (PDT)/March 24, 2022 (JST). In accordance with the termination, we will be releasing a new “DRAGON BALL XENOVERSE 2 Lite” around the beginning of April 2022. The save data of the old “DRAGON BALL XENOVERSE 2 Lite” can be transferred to the new “DRAGON BALL XENOVERSE 2 Lite.” Thank you for your patience and understanding.
