Delisting

[UPDATE 08/22/24] DOOM (Xbox, PlayStation 4 [excluding PS+ Premium], Switch, Steam, and GOG) and DOOM II (Xbox, PlayStation 4 [excluding PS+ Premium], Switch, Steam, and GOG) were delisted on August 8th, 2024. Some stores referred to DOOM / DOOM II as Final DOOM or The Ultimate DOOM (both with feature variations compared to each other and to vanilla DOOM). All titles were delisted on the same day as the announcement and release of the combined DOOM + DOOM II package during QuakeCon 2024. Owners of the existing releases were given access to the new DOOM + DOOM II product at no additional charge. (On Steam, the entry for DOOM was renamed as DOOM + DOOM II.)

Thanks to reader We All Fall Down, we know the physical release of Doom Slayers Collection on PS4 comes with a download voucher for DOOM and DOOM II, which is valid until 12/10/2029. Delisted Games also confirmed that the Switch and Xbox One versions of Doom Slayers Collection contain download vouchers for DOOM and DOOM II.

Back in 2022 and briefly covered on Delisted Games was a consolidation of id Software titles, which in part included some delistings. Here’s the news from 2022.

DOOM (Xbox 360), DOOM II (Xbox 360), DOOM Classic Complete (PlayStation 3), and DOOM 3: BFG Edition (Xbox 360, PlayStation 3) were delisted on July 26th, 2019. All of the titles were delisted on the same day as the announcement and release of their modern counterparts during QuakeCon 2019.

The titles were presumably delisted to “avoid confusion among players” searching digital storefronts for DOOM but may also have been delisted to force players over to the newer, more expensive releases of the games.
