Ubisoft Announces More Service Shutdowns for September 1st, One Delisting [UPDATED]

Ubisoft Announces More Service Shutdowns for September 1st, One Delisting [UPDATED]

[UPDATE 07/12/22] Anno 2070, Assassin’s Creed Liberation HD and Silent Hunter 5 have been relisted shortly after the previous update, with the notice on the store pages updated to specify that the base games will remain playable after September 1st.

[UPDATE 07/11/22] The Steam store pages for Anno 2070, Assassin’s Creed Liberation HD and Silent Hunter 5 had been updated on July 7th with the notice: “Please note this title will not be accessible following September 1st, 2022” and were removed from sale on Steam alongside Space Junkies. Our original post from last week follows.

I didn’t have a chance to post this last week but alongside the Just Dance shutdown news Ubisoft also announced that online functionality will be terminated for fourteen older console and PC titles on September 1st, 2022. Also on the list is Space Junkies for Oculus, HTC Vive, Valve Index, and PlayStation VR. While the game will also be losing online features, as a multiplayer-only title “you will be unable to play the game going forward” according to Ubisoft’s statement. As of right now Space Junkies remains on sale on all platforms with no notice of the upcoming deadline.

The publisher’s brief announcement, and list of affected titles and platforms follows below:

Closing the online services for some older games allows us to focus our resources on delivering great experiences for players who are playing newer or more popular titles. To help us achieve this, a number of older titles will be added to our list of decommissioned online services on 1 September 2022. Below you will find a detailed breakdown for the effects of this new round of decommissions per platform.
