Delisting
Stardew Valley was delisted on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita (for cross-play) in Australia and Europe in early August of 2020. After the game was updated to include “simulated gambling” its PEGI and ACB ratings had to be reclassified which required it to complete Sony’s certification process. This took months longer than expected and only the PlayStation 4 version returned on February 25th, 2021. As of mid-March 2021 the Vita version has not returned and its absence not addressed by developer/publisher Eric “ConcernedApe” Barone.
Before it was delisted, Barone explained that the Vita hardware was not powerful enough to handle more recent updates to the game, going so far as to say that there would be no more content updates for the handheld release. The growing disparities between the Vita version of the game and the rest may be the reason it has yet to return to the PlayStation Store. It may also simply be further delayed in the certification process than the PlayStation 4 version.
About the Game
You’ve inherited your grandfather’s old farm plot in Stardew Valley. Armed with hand-me-down tools and a few coins, you set out to begin your new life. Can you learn to live off the land and turn these overgrown fields into a thriving home? It won’t be easy. Ever since Joja Corporation came to town, the old ways of life have all but disappeared. The community center, once the town’s most vibrant hub of activity, now lies in shambles. But the valley seems full of opportunity. With a little dedication, you might just be the one to restore Stardew Valley to greatness!
