Delisting

Pac-Man Championship Edition was delisted from the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Portable some time between January of 2019 and May of 2020. A reader pointed out that they were able to purchase the game in January of 2019 but that it had since been removed from the store. The game has also been removed in Europe on PlayStation platforms.

The cause for the delisting is uncertain but potentially related to upkeep costs or low sales, especially for the PSP version. The updated pseudo-sequel, Pac-Man Championship Edition DX, remains available on PlayStation 3 but no version of the game is available for the PlayStation Portable.

About the Game

Are you a dot-chompin’ champion? The No.1 Arcade game of all time returns in PAC-MAN® Championship Edition with fresh graphics, six dynamic mazes, a heart pumping soundtrack and a twist on the classic PAC-MAN® gameplay! In Championship Mode, players have five minutes to reach the highest score possible by eating as many pellets and ghosts as they can.

A new Challenge Mode literally leaves players in the dark. Only PAC-MAN®, ghosts and Pac-Dots are illuminated as players navigate a totally blacked-out maze. Other modes include surviving as long as you can under a ten minute time limit as PAC-MAN® and his enemy ghosts’ speed continues to increase. Mazes contain twisting tunnels and perilous straight-aways that are able to seamlessly morph during gameplay, making PAC-MAN® Championship Edition an exciting and new experience every time!
