Lost Ark shutting down in Japan on March 20th

Japanese publisher PMANG announced back on January 17th that their release of Lost Ark, Smilegate’s free-to-play MMO from 2019, will be shutting down in that territory on March 20th. By the end of January all in-game purchases had been concluded and their internet cafe service was ended. You can check out the schedule and a brief FAQ for current players at this page.

We regret to inform you that the service for “LOST ARK” will end at 19:00 on Wednesday, March 20, 2024. We have been providing services since Wednesday, September 23, 2020, but in close consultation with the developer, Smilegate RPG, we have decided that it will be difficult to continue to provide services that will satisfy our customers. Outside of Japan Lost Ark seems to be humming along with recent anniversary events and monthly updates in North America and Europe where it’s published on Steam by Amazon Games. The original Korean version also seems to be alive and well with a 2024 roadmap laying out upcoming content.
