Big City Stories on PlayStation 4 shutting down April 1st

Big City Stories — a funky mix of SimCity, Crazy Taxi, and PlayStation Home released in 2016 — will be shut down and removed from the PlayStation Store soon on April 1st. No announcement has been made about the shutdown aside from the game’s PlayStation Store page having recently been updated with a note that “this title will shut down on April 1, 2023”.

Developer Hellfire Games got their start back on PlayStation Home and it shows (for better and worse) with Big City Stories. I was a fan of the game back when it launched but haven’t touched it in years, always wondering when they were going to finally pull the plug. It appears Hellfire Games ceased operations around March of 2020; they haven’t posted to social media since and their homepage went offline at some point as well.

For those interested, Big City Stories can still be downloaded for free on PlayStation 4 or 5 and with the time remaining you just might be able to grind through its 14 Trophies before it’s gone. Thanks to Needles078 for pointing out the news, I’ve added the date to the Watch List calendar and we’ll have a page up on the site later.
