Ascend: Hand of Kul was a unique Action RPG originally launched on Xbox 360 back in 2013 and then on Steam in 2014. Set in a world of gods and giants, the game’s scale is what initially stood out but its gameplay also offered a mix of single and multiplayer elements with player invasions and an overarching metagame. Microsoft published the original release and provided its online infrastructure but not even a year later they announced that support for the game was ending. Signal Studios brought the game to Steam themselves earlier that year but it too only lasted a short time, shutting down in June of 2016.
While fans have found ways to continue playing the game in the years since, an official re-release is now on its way from Outer Heaven Studios and Signal Studios. The group announced on Twitter on September 2nd that a “re-release” of Hand of Kul was in the works and would be titled Ascend: Reborn.

Outer Heaven Studios – September 2nd, 2022
The following day, the long-dormant @AscendGame Twitter account retweeted Outer Heaven and added a #screenshotsaturday post showing a work-in-progress glimpse of the game. And that’s all we know at this point; keep up with Outer Heaven Studios or AscendGame on Twitter for more over the coming months. Thanks to HandMaskTar for pointing out the announcement.
