Delisting
Developer Action Square announced on October 31st, 2023 that the Xbox version of ANVIL: Vault Breaker would be removed from sale at the end of November and shut down on the platform at the end of the year. The early access “Game Preview” title had been on Xbox and included in the Game Pass library since 2021. In a statement posted on the Anvil Discord, Action Square said:
We regret to inform our Xbox users that we’ll be phasing out service for ANVIL on Xbox in the coming months.
We will stop selling the package version of Anvil on Xbox on November 30, 2023, PST.
Subsequently, the Xbox Game Pass/Game Preview service for Anvil will stop on December 31, 2023, PST.
Please note that you will no longer be able to play Anvil on Xbox after this date.We’ll continue to update FAQ through our Discord channel

ANVIL Discord Announcement – October 31st, 2023
Unlike the Steam release which is handled by HIKE Inc., the Xbox version was published by SK Telecom and according to the developer “the rights to the publishing […] belongs to them”. Although neither party has confirmed it, Action Square’s wording in an earlier update implies that the active player base on Xbox wasn’t sufficient to continue developing that version of the game. “Once […] the need for the game on other platforms is there, we will strive to get the game in its latest version back onto Xbox,” reads the FAQ post on the game’s Discord server.
At the time of this writing HIKE and Action Square had announced a Nintendo Switch version of the game and showed it off in playable form at Tokyo Game Show in September of 2023. No release date had been announced at the time.
About the Game
This game is a work in progress. It may or may not change over time or release as a final product. Purchase only if you are comfortable with the current state of the unfinished game.
ANVIL is a multiplayer co-op top-down sci-fi roguelike action shooter where you control characters called Vault Breakers to explore various galaxies that are crawling with monsters. Find relics inside Vaults to increase Breaker’s ability to survive and fight on this godforsaken galaxy.
# ANVIL Ancient Vault Investigation Lab
ANVIL is an agency that searches for “Vaults”, the remnants of alien civilizations scattered throughout the universe. Become a “Breaker” searching for “Vaults” and explore the unknown galaxy. Each galaxy consists of random planets and unique boss monsters. By defeating monsters and opening the Vaults, you will be able to utilize the stunning powers within.
# Breakers
The Breakers are the seekers of Vaults. They have maximized their combat capabilities to survive various threats that they may encounter on different planets. Breakers with unique abilities and skills are waiting to be selected.
# Artifacts and Vault Weapons
Over 100 randomly generated artifacts and dozens of weapons will make every session unique and different from previous sessions. You will be able to explore a combination of different playstyles by testing synergy between various artifacts and obtain powerful weapons to get the “ultimate” Breaker!
# Death and Rebirth
The Breakers enter combat with their mechanical body. They are rebuilt in ANVIL if they are destroyed during an exploration. Your Breakers will gain EXP during battle that will enhance their strength and give them new powers. The Breakers are not afraid of death because death only makes them stronger when they are rebuilt.
# Operator
A new companion has been added to your journey. They may not directly aid you in combat like Toy Workers, but they provide you with essential details about ANVIL and occasionally provide helpful information through interactions.
Conquer the battlefield with the newly added Operator.
