While Forza Horizon was delisted back on October 20, 2016, and Forza Horizon 2 was delisted on September 30, 2018, their online worlds persisted – until now. Turn 10 Studios announced last month that both games’ servers will be closing on August 22, 2023. According to the official news post, there are too few players to justify leaving things as-is.
As these games now have a very small player population, we’ll be closing online services for Forza Horizon 1 and Forza Horizon 2 on August 22, 2023 so that we can focus on our most current games. Please note that due to the age of these games and their services, access to online functionality even prior to the official closure date is not guaranteed.
While the single-player experience in both games will remain playable, any online functionality such as matchmaking, leaderboards and the browsing and downloading of online User Generated Content (UGC) including liveries, vinyls, tuning setups, and photos will not be available from August 22, 2023.

Forza Horizon was only released on the Xbox 360, but Forza Horizon 2 was released on both Xbox 360 and Xbox One. This change impacts all versions of the games.
The post includes a small FAQ with at least one interesting question and answer. The standalone Forza Horizon 2 Presents Fast & Furious game will also lose its online functionality in August – again on both consoles.
Game entries are already up for Forza Hozion, Forza Horizon 2, and even Forza Horizon 2 Presents Fast & Furious. The Watch List calendar will be updated too.
