Japanese indie publisher Nyu Media announced back in June that they would be winding down their operations in 2022. Publishing rights to their titles have either been transferred to the original developer or to another publisher with the exception of just a few games. The Cherry Tree High titles were delisted from Steam in July, and with time running out it appears that the eXceed series will also be lost in just over a week. Nyu Media announced on December 22nd that three eXceed games and their soundtracks will be removed from sale on Steam on January 6th. The team’s announcement follows:
The eXceed series games and OSTs will be DELISTED from Steam on Jan 6th! We’ve almost completed the process of transitioning our titles back to their respective developers before Nyu Media shuts up shop for good. The eXceed series are the last titles to go, but unfortunately the developer has dropped out of contact so we’re unable to hand over publishing to them. As such, we will delist the eXceed series titles from Steam on January 6th.
Hopefully the developer will get back in contact and continue selling the titles between now and then, but we can’t guarantee this will happen or if the titles will ever be sold on Steam (or anywhere else) again. Bottom line: if you’re thinking of picking up the eXceed series (great games, btw!!), now is the time to do it! Wishing a very happy holiday and AWESOME 2023 to all!
Nyu Media Announcement – December 22, 2022
The series includes eXceed – Gun Bullet Children, eXceed 2nd – Vampire REX, and eXceed 3rd – Jade Penetrate Black Package. All of the content is 50% off through January 5th and you can also pick them up in bundles: just the games or the games with their soundtracks.
I’ve added the date to the Watch List calendar and we’ll have a page up on the site later. Thanks to HandMaskTar for pointing out the news.
