Delisting
Project CARS was initially delisted on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One at the end of June 2020. Google Cache archives show it was on sale on Xbox One through June 30th with its removal pointed out to the site on July 4th. The delisting is likely related to Codemasters acquisition of developer Slightly Mad Studios in 2019, and appeared to only affect the terms of the original game’s availability. Project CARS was relisted on PlayStation 4 in Australia and Europe, and on Xbox One in Australia, Europe, Japan, and North America no later than August of 2020. The North American PlayStation 4 version returned to sale later in 2020, and the Japanese PlayStation 4 version never returned to sale.
On August 22, 2022, Slightly Mad would announce that the game would be permanently delisted, due to expired car and track licenses. The team’s brief announcement follows:
Due to expiring car & track licenses, both Project CARS and Project CARS 2 will be delisted from sale in the coming months. The games remain fully playable, and our players will still be able to enjoy all the game features, including multiplayer. We will remove Project CARS from sale on October 3rd and Project CARS 2 on September 21st.
We remain focused on making the best sim racing titles, and as mentioned previously, we look forward to sharing more on the next Slightly Mad project when the time is right.

As of 2023, the Game of the Year edition of Project CARS remains exclusively available on Oculus Rift.
