Delisting
The original version of Wunderling was replaced on March 8th, 2022 on Steam and Nintendo Switch with a “definitive” DX update. Owners of Wunderling received the update for free but were unable to revert to the original version of the game. Shortly after this, in May of 2022, Retroid (now operating as Bitwave Games) confirmed that the DX update was also in the works for PlayStation 4. Not only would the update not be releaed, the PlayStation 4 version of Wunderling would be delisted entirely no later than November 16th, 2022 when its absence was pointed out to the site.
Previous to this, on August 18th, 2022, it was publicly announced that Bitwave Games had been acquired by Embracer Group. It seems likely that both Retroid’s rebranding as Bitwave Games and the acquisition by Embracer caused their original deal with publisher Toplitz Productions — who handled the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One releases in 2020 — to be terminated. Peculiarly however, as of late 2023 the original version of Wunderling remains available exclusively on Xbox One with no DX update in sight and some broken Achievements.
