Microsoft’s end of support for the Windows 10 Mobile platform has been known for a number of years but their Support page was just updated earlier this month with some bad news for Achievement hunters. In just three month’s time, on May 16th, 2022, Xbox features including Achievements and stat-tracking will be disabled across Windows 10 Mobile devices.
End of support means experiences with Xbox related features will have limited to no functionality. In addition, earning achievements through Windows Phone devices will be turned off starting May 16, 2022. Some games may still be playable locally on your phone, but progress will not be recorded to your Xbox profile.
Microsoft Support Post
TrueAchievements also reported on the news earlier today and offers a convenient listing of the near-300 Windows Phone titles that will be affected starting May 16th. If you’re lacking a device but intrigued by what the Windows Phone store has to offer you can browse things on the web from here. For the time being at least the games and apps will still be available from the Microsoft Store, they just won’t be fully functional after May 16th.
Thanks to everybody who pointed out the news today. I’ve added the date to the Watch List calendar.
