Delisting
Wild Metal Country was removed from sale on Steam and from Rockstar’s own website in May of 2013. The game was offered for free directly from Rockstar after joining their mailing list but the Rockstar Classics webpage now reads “The Rockstar Classics free download series is currently unavailable”.
Why this game and the original Grand Theft Auto 1 and 2 were removed so promptly in May of 2013 is uncertain. It is possible that Rockstar no longer sought to support the games as compatibility issues arose on newer hardware. Less likely is the possibility that Rockstar was working on remaking or otherwise updating these games for a new release but abandoned the project.
About the Game
“Hunt or be hunted. Kill or be killed. Reclaim the future for mankind. In your role as an intergalactic bounty hunter, you have been employed to attempt to locate and capture the elusive power cores and disrupt the machines in the Tehric System. Armed with your wits and an array of futuristic weaponry (not to mention the support helicopters) this is a mission you cannot afford to fail.“
