Warsaw to be delisted from GOG on September 20th (but already gone?!) [Update: Replaced with Warsaw Rising: City of Heroes on Steam]

[UPDATE #2: 08/28/23] This Steam version of WARSAW has been replaced with WASAW RISING: City of Heroes, and the Steam link to WARSAW now redirects to it. This is a free-to-play game, which alters the game mechanics among other things as described in the initial blog for WARSAW RISING.

Fans weren’t happy so the developers provided directions to access the old game here via the properties settings, which they call Legacy Version. Interestingly, this is a free way to get the old paid version. I just tried it myself and saw two different intros. The downside is only one version can be installed at a time.

I see no evidence of WARSAW RISING appearing on GOG at this time. The original post follows.

This one’s interesting. On Friday, a user submitted news that WARSAW would be delisted from GOG on September 20th.

The brief GOG forum post states:

We’d like to inform you that, due to the change of licensing rights, WARSAW will be delisted from our catalog on Sunday, September 20th, 9 PM UTC.

For everyone who purchased the title prior to delisting, it will remain in their GOG library.

Gog.com forum post – August 18th, 2023

Guess what? September 20th isn’t on a Sunday this year, but August 20th was. And now the game’s URL redirects to https://www.gog.com/en/games (at least for those in English-speaking countries). Seems like the team member got the wrong month when making the news post. What a shame!

The good news is that as of this posting, one can still grab the game on Steam.

We’ll add it to the Watch List calendar for August 20th, get an entry opened up on the site, and thanks for the submission.
