Want some classic Electronic Arts titles DRM-free? Grab Ultima Underworld 1+2, Syndicate Plus, and Syndicate Wars from GOG.com this weekend because the trio of titles is being delisted from the service on Monday, June 28th at 1pm UTC. GOG made the announcement earlier today on their General Discussion forums, noting as usual that anyone who has purchased the titles before the 28th will continue to be able to access them through their Library.
All three titles are on a 75% discount right now, bringing them below $2 each. Meanwhile their Origin.com counterparts (Syndicate, Ultima Underworld 1, 2) go for $4.99 and are likely to be the only place to buy these games digitally for some time. As for the cause of the unexpected departures, it’s a bit of a mystery. Dozens of equally old EA titles remain side by side on GOG.com and Origin so it doesn’t seem like a move to lock them down to EA’s exclusive platform. Thanks to everyone who pointed out the news, I’ve added the date to the Watch List calendar and will have pages up on the site soon.
