Puppet Master Games posted a brief announcement on January 10th, 2019 to confirm that Star Trek: Adversaries would soon be delisted from Steam and shut down.

The following announcement has been provided by CBS to be distributed to the Star Trek: Adversaries community on January 10th, 2018 [presumably a typo]. Puppet Master Games will not be adding to this official statement at this time.

“Star Trek: Adversaries will be shutting down the game servers on January 31st. You can continue to play the game, but after January 31st the game will no longer be accessible. We thank you and our fans for your support and for playing our game.”

On behalf of everyone at PMG I would like to thank this community for all that you’ve done and for the love of Star Trek and CCGs that you’ve brought to this game. It’s been a wild ride, and we have very much enjoyed having each of you helping to crew this crazy ship.

Live long and prosper.

According to one comment on the game’s Steam Community forums by developer DarkHeraldMage, in-app purchases had been disabled before the January 10th announcement. In further replies from January they explained some of the trying experiences in working on the game, revealing that “we wish the devs who have spent over a year of their lives building and maintaining it for almost no money whatsoever still had jobs at this point”.

Along with Puppet Master Games’ homepage, all social media accounts for the game — Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, Twitch, Discord — were deleted or shut down around January 31st. DarkHeraldMage explained in a reply about the art featured in Adversaries that “every part of the game was licensed which means all the cards and images were part of that”.
