PARK ESM announced on April 4th that their short-lived, free-to-play shooter, Operation7: Showdown, will be shut down as of August 1st, 2021. The PlayStation 4 title debuted just six months ago in October but likely hasn’t garnered enough of a player base for the team to keep it online. The team’s announcement follows:
To our Operation7: Showdown community,
We are sad to announce that the PS4 service of Operation7: Showdown will close on August 1, 2021. Starting after May 1, 2021, sales of all digital products within the game will be disabled and on June 1, 2021, players will no longer be able to download Operation7: Showdown from the store.
May 1, 2021 PST – Shop Close (in-game purchases)
June 1, 2021 PST – Download Unavailable
August 1, 2021 PST – Service ShutdownWe would like to express our deepest gratitude to our players for the support and feedback throughout the past year.
Operation7 Showdown Team
In 2019 PARK ESM shut down Operation7 Revolution, an Asia-exclusive PlayStation 4 shooter in the same vein as Showdown. Revolution held on for a couple of years but Showdown, despite being a North American exclusive this time around, didn’t fare even that well. You can still grab the game for free until June 1st if you’re interested in its gun customization and “class-based” vehicles. It actually seems kind of interesting and I might try it out over the final months. I’ve added the date to the Watch List calendar and will have a page up on the site soon. Thanks again to Wakayama_PT for the heads up.
