Delisting
Onigiri was first shut down and delisted on PlayStation Vita in Japan on April 26th, 2019. In Europe, the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions were shut down on September 3rd, 2019. The Japanese and North American Xbox One versions were next to be shut down, which Cyberstep announced on June 5th, 2020. The Xbox One version of the game was ultimately shut down on July 31st, 2020. Cyberstep then announced on March 18th, 2021 that the dedicated English language PC version of Onigiri would be shut down on June 11th, 2021.
We regret to inform you that, after much deliberation, we have decided to end service for the USPC version Onigiri, effective 14:00 on June 11, 2021 (Friday) JST. To everyone that has played and is still playing USPC Onigiri, we extend our deepest gratitude and also our condolences for the outcome of this decision. The schedule concerning closure will proceed as follows.

March 19, 2021 14:00 JST： Sale of Onigiri Coins will stop
June 11, 2021 14:00 JST： USPC Onigiri game service will end
July 9, 2021 14:00 JST： Support mails for USPC will no longer be accepted

■ Concerning Paid Onigiri Coins
Onigiri Coins which you have purchased may be used until the end of service on June 11th, but will no longer be able to be used after the game service has ended. Please be aware that we cannot issue items, bonuses, or refunds of any kind in exchange for unused Onigiri coins at the end of service. We recommend that you use your OC before this time.
■ Concerning game data transfer
Please be aware that we will not be able to transfer game data from the USPC version to any other version at service closure on account of technical limitations. We are sorry for any inconvenience. Thank you for the many wonderful years we’ve spent together in USPC Onigiri. On behalf of the entire management, you have our gratitude for all of your support. Let’s enjoy Onigiri until the end!
On June 28, 2022, CyberStep announced that the Nintendo Switch version would be shut down worldwide on September 26, 2022. Unlike the previous Xbox One and PC versions, Switch players were able to transfer their progress to the Steam version to continue playing.

Players who use the Nintendo Switch™ version of Onigiri will be able to port their game save data to the Windows version of Onigiri after the Nintendo Switch™ version of Onigiri game service ends by use of a transfer code. The transfer code issue form will be implemented in a future update.On behalf of the entire Service team, we would like to extend our gratitude to all of the players of Onigiri .

Like many online multiplayer titles before it, Onigiri’s selective shutdowns are likely due to dwindling active player counts and growing performance issues on these specific platforms. Since the announcement the PS4 and Steam releases have continued to operate as normal along with the dedicated Japanese and Taiwanese PC clients.
In June of 2022, the site was contacted by a Catheon Gaming representative to inform us that a new version of Onigiri was in the works on PC, built with the blockchain and NFTs in mind. Should it prove successful, this version would replace the current Japanese and Taiwanese PC versions of the game.
About the Game
Onigiri is an MMO Action RPG with a fast weapon changing battle system. Join a party of other players or travel with 8 NPC companions on your journey. With simple controls, you can dive into the thrilling world of Onigiri. Switch between weapons to battle through the Youkai.
In a Japan filled with spirits and monsters, ages ago, the land itself was rocked by chaos. From the depths rose the terrible Kamigui who carved a path of destruction through all.
The gods and people struggled for a century. At last, Amaterasu Oomikami, goddess of the Sun, placed three great Seals forcing the Kamigui away and returning peace once again.
Time has passed, and now, one of the great Seals has shattered. A dark force arises once more. On the far western island of Onigashima, fate brings together a young woman and a child of the Oni. The journey of destiny begins now!
