GOG.com announced late last week that the Early Access title, Hellish Quart, will be leaving the platform on February 15th. But in an odd addendum, the announcement points out that the GOG.com version will continue to receive updates “to retain parity” with the still-available Steam release.
We’d like to inform you that due to the publisher’s request, Hellish Quart will be delisted from our catalog on Thursday, February 15th, 6 PM UTC. For everyone who purchased this title prior to the delisting, it will remain in their GOG library. Additionally, the Publisher informed us that the game will continue receiving updates to retain parity with versions from other storefronts.
GOG.com announcement – February 08, 2024
Unfortunately, developer Kubold has not made any public statement about the decision — not on GOG.com, Steam, or social media — leaving players and potential owners confused. As some have speculated, the GOG.com version is likely to see far fewer updates than on Steam while others are already fearing that no updates will happen at all after the game is no longer on sale.
