Delisting
HeliCity Demolition Man was delisted on PlayStation 4 on September 5th, 2024. A bundle including the game along with several anime avatar pictures was delisted shortly thereafter. The title recreated the gameplay and visual style of the infamous mission also named “Demolition Man” from Grand Theft Auto: Vice City back in 2002. All combined, this appears to have been too similar for Rockstar Games and Take-Two Interactive to let slide and the studios apparently sought to have the game removed from sale.
Neither Rockstar/Take-Two nor Erik Games have publicly addressed the delisting but the takedown notice on the trailer’s YouTube page makes it fairly certain, reading “this video is no longer available due to a copyright claim by Take-Two Interactive”. Although their efforts seem to have been widespread on the PlayStation Store, as of September 13th, 2024 the game remains available on the Nintendo Switch eShop where it was released on the same day that it was delisted on PlayStation 4.
