Delisting

Developer Disquire announced on Steam on December 9th, 2019 that Deuterium Wars would be shutting down in just under a month on January 5th. The free-to-play title is still available to claim on Steam but obviously there are no servers left to connect to. The team’s full announcement follows:

The title would sound joyful if the reality were not so sad. With great regret, we are forced to say that our current funding is not enough to continue the development of Deuterium Wars. Despite the positive ratings on Steam, we only have enough money to pay for our servers. For this reason, friends, we are forced to stop developing the game.

Starting December 9, all in-game purchases will be turned off, and from January 5, 2020, the project servers will be completely closed.

It has been 4 years since the start of development …
We wanted to make a really cool project in which everyone could do what he would like. We had a lot of ideas! And some current functionality was a definite step to a steeper one. Unfortunately, we did not manage to do all this for the release of the game on Steam. Nevertheless, we still had the hope that with the release on Steam, we would be able to support development at the pace we needed to complete all our plans. But … It’s too difficult to talk about dreams that will never come true.

During these 4 years, there was a lot of good.
Thanks to Deuterium Wars, our team has made a huge number of friends – you guys! From the beginning of closed alpha testing until recently, together with all of you, we have been trying our best to make the game better. We regularly released huge updates for our small team. For all these years of communication with you, we have the impression that we are familiar with some of you directly personally and just from time to time play DW. It was a wonderful time that we will always miss.

We want to express our deep gratitude to everyone for everything!
For being with us all this time, for tremendous support, for faith in us, for help, for financial support, and for excellent communication.

Deuterium Wars left bits of soul for each of us.
We believe … no, we are just sure that after the closure of the servers on the Altanar, peace will come! Our heroes will find a way to produce deuterium, completely restore the planet and together create the best civilization of all time.

We wish you all the best!
More cool games and success in everything! But we do not say goodbye to you. Even after closing the servers, our Discord-server will remain open for memories, friendly conversations and the search for new hobbies. In the meantime, we still have a month of interesting and unforgettable battles in Deuterium Wars, the final battles and the ability to make memorable screenshots. And if you want to improve your hero and prepare him for closing the servers, use this promotional code for the Premium month to take as many rewards from the fights as possible: 8ZSZ-5KGU-3JU2. By the way, there will be much more rewards, since we significantly increased the drop;)

With love, your Deuterium Wars team.

Steam Announcement – December 09, 2019

On January 8th the team posted a farewell video showing the battery backup on their internal servers running out in a mash up with footage from the end of Terminator 2: Judgment Day. Developer Salleodore commented on the post in Russian to explain (via Google Translate) “These are our internal servers) But they are connected to those rented in Germany, France and the USA. Unfortunately, it is not easy to transfer them only to these machines and leave them on. If it were possible to do this, we would have done it 🙁 + in addition to the servers, there are enough other expenses that take part in the “connection” (domains, encryption certificates, CDN, hosting and DNS servers, etc.).”

About the Game

Deuterium Wars is a multiplayer cross-platform breakneck-paced shooter that combines high dynamic fights with an extensive role-playing system. Work your way up from rookie in a “rust bucket” to experienced pilot in a high-tech combat aircraft that’s equipped with lots of deadly gadgets. With a variety of combat modes, futuristic arenas, multi-level craft, developed trading, and a social eco-system, you’ll never have time to be bored!

  • BATTLE FIERCELY LIKE NEVER BEFORE
High dynamic fights keep the player engaged throughout the battle. In order to win, reaction and tactical thinking are equally important, as well as team play and the right priorities, depending on the battle mode. A fierce soundtrack and special effects reinforce the sensation of being fully immersed in battle.
  • BECOME THE MAKER OF A REAL DEATH MACHINE
Combat vehicles are made from components that the player acquires in various ways. A trustworthy machine gun, a powerful cannon, or an experimental beam gun: the choice is yours. The same goes for armor, engine, and hundreds of additional gadgets and their modifiers.
  • BE A CRAFTSMAN OR A TRADER
As usual in this genre, you can outfit your ship before flight. The system of craft and trading allows you to even convert junk into a valuable part that can be sold for profit! Players will enjoy all the possibilities for customization; ship parts can be painted or patterned and decorative elements can be added.
  • BATTLE ON DIFFERENT PLATFORMS
Apart from the PC version, a version for mobile platforms and consoles are still in development. At home, on the road, or at work: the game will always be with you.
  • WELCOME TO ALTANAR
Thirty years ago, a massive asteroid almost destroyed Altanar. A high-tech Dome absorbed most of the strike and now keeps the planet from total destruction. Although part of Altanar is a post-apocalyptic desert, some areas still have megalopolises, military bases, and even wilderness. Now, a serious battle for power and control of rare deuterium resources has begun. Deuterium lies at the heart of most technologies, including fueling the Dome.
