[UPDATE 06/11/24] Several days on and we haven’t seen any Steam releases disappear yet but we did see the debut of Delta Force: Hawk Ops, a new entry in the series. Although the new game made its biggest splash at last week’s Summer Game Fest it’s been ramping up production and marketing since 2023.
This new title from what appears to be a new owner of the Delta Force IP is likely the cause for the GOG.com delistings and Black Hawk Down’s disappearance on Steam last year. Some scuttlebutt suggests that the games may return to GOG but at this point it seems just as likely that they’ll disappear from Steam.
[UPDATE 06/07/24] All titles were delisted on GOG.com this morning at 9am EST (1pm UTC). As of this update Black Hawk Down has disappeared on Steam as well but the rest remain available. Our original post follows:
GOG.com team member king_kunat announced early this morning that the entire Delta Force series is slated to be removed from the platform and it will likely happen later today, Friday, June 7th. The brief announcement and links to the titles on GOG.com follows:
Just now, we’ve received a request that we have to delist all Delta Force titles that are available in our store, due to legal reasons that are beyond our control. Affected titles are:
- Delta Force
- Delta Force 2
- Delta Force: Land Warrior
- Delta Force: Task Force Dagger
- Delta Force Xtreme
- Delta Force: Black Hawk Down Platinum Pack
I’ll add the exact time of the removals when we schedule it, but I wanted to let you guys know as fast as possible because it will most likely happen today.
They will be removed from all storefronts.
