Capcom announced on November 8th that several of their older Steam releases are experiencing issues during installation thanks to the old Games For Windows LIVE framework. “We are temporarily disabling the purchase option on Steam while we investigate the matter further,” Capcom said in a post on several of the games’ Steam store pages. The affected titles identified so far include:
- Lost Planet: Extreme Condition – Colonies Edition
- Lost Planet 2
- Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City
- Street Fighter IV
- Street Fighter x Tekken
Hopefully the games will return in time but patching around the GFWL service is apparently trickier than you might expect. Square Enix pulled several titles from Steam in February for similar issues and they have yet to return. Those include Kane & Lynch: Dead Men, Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver, and Battlestations: Pacific. In 2020 Rockstar Games pulled Grand Theft Auto IV for another issue with GFWL, relaunching the title and its DLC in a new “Complete Edition” package later in the year. Thanks to everyone who pointed out this news.
