Delisting

Support for Savage by its original developer, S2 Games, officially ended in 2004. In the years since S2 has facilitated community-based teams in keeping the game alive with one of the most popular being Savage XR.

S2 Games shut their official game servers down in 2004 and the stats server in 2007. In 2014 the Savage Master Server was frozen/shut down as well (so new game servers wouldn’t show up) and they completely removed all information about Savage on their website. In 2018 S2 Games was quietly closed.

Savage XR About Page

Savage XR would itself be shut down on August 30th, 2022 over security concerns and a lack of time for upkeep. Support for the game would then be handed over to another community effort, Savage DRX.

Due to a multitude of security related issues and a lack of time to maintain this website, Newerth.com has closed down for good as of the 30th of August 2022. This will mean aspects of Savage XR will no longer function such as the services that run the server list, clan icons and statistics.

With that in mind, the folks at community-server.info are continuing to support the development of the game and community nearly 20 years after its release! Additionally, we have provided them with the necessary tools to revive these services in their DRX client.

Although the website will no longer exist, there will always be an archive of its content at the web.archive.org for posterity. You can also download every map ever made by the community here.

Thank you to everyone who has been involved in the community since 2005 and that have made Newerth.com and Savage XR a reality.

Newerth Team Announcement – August 2022

As of June 2024 Savage DRX and its dedicated client remain online and playable though most live games are coordinated through its Discord server.

About the Game

Original Description: In a violent age, eons from now, nomad humans roam the earth, inflicting cruelty on the beasts and creatures of the world. The human race is wasteful, selfish and fights amongst itself, while those closest to nature, the beast race, learn from human failings evolving and growing man against beast, for the very basic national resources that nurture life. Each race has its own style of battle, its own leader, and its own way to victory.

Which side are you on?

MobyGames Description: As the name implies, ‘Newerth’ is the New Earth some long time in the future after man has managed to destroy all that has been created and are not in a time period of magical and technological conflict.

The game is a Real Time Strategy Shooter (RTSS) as the designers call it. One player acts as the commander and builds a base, controls workers, researches, gives orders, etc. The difference is that the battle units are all player controlled up to a maximum of 31 per team (64 players/server max).

The game itself is a battle between man and evolved beast lead by a sorceress. It is a completely different experience from any other game on the market but is similar to CounterStrike and Warcraft III mixed together. For the full story in a handy comic book format visit the website.

As a side note, the game has no monthly charge and is online only. The game comes in one disc or the player may download it and purchase a CD-Key online.
