Developer COLOPL updated the Steam Store description for Volzerk just a few weeks ago and used the space to announce the game’s upcoming shutdown. Launched on Steam and mobile just over a year ago in January of 2023, Volzerk is COLOPL’s only title not designed for VR and it’s also another take on the “monster breeding RPG” genre.
“Volzerk：Monsters and Lands Unknown” will end its service on March 29, 2024. We would like to express our sincere gratitude to all those who have enjoyed the service.

The free-to-play, single-player title relied on an in-game marketplace for profit and only saw one expansion back in February of 2023. With fewer than thirty daily players over the last year the costs to maintain its server infrastructure for its solo experience has likely outweighed the income. The game is still available on Steam and mobile but according to the update new player registrations ended on February 29th so you may not be able to actually get into the game at this point.
