Bravely Default series on Nintendo 3DS loses online features June 30th

With the Nintendo eShop for 3DS and Wii U now retired it won’t be too surprising to see more announcements like this going forward. Square Enix provided an update on May 10th about the online features in the Bravely Default titles on 3DS (Bravely Default and Bravely Second: End Layer). In this case the games will continue to be fully playable but features like ‘Net Friend Invites’ and sending “Nemeses” to other players are expected to be disabled at the end of June. As previously announced, the Nintendo eShop service for the Nintendo 3DS series and Wii U will end on Tuesday, March 28, 2023, at 9:00 a.m. (JST). SP Drinks will no longer be available for purchase in the Nintendo eShop.

Network server maintenance
Network functions including Update Data and registering friends via the internet will be discontinued.

May 2023 – Announcement #2
We will provide details on the impact of the server shutdown.

Network server shutdown

We plan to explain the impact of the network sever shutdown in announcement #2 in May, but we expect that Net Friend Invites and sending Nemeses will no longer be available.

Even after the server is shut down, the games themselves will be playable to their endings. StreetPass between 3DS players will also still be available. Thank you for your continued support of the BRAVELY series.
