Electronic Arts has updated their Online Services Shutdown pages again with two more titles losing multiplayer and/or online features as of March 28th, 2023:
- Half Life 2 for PlayStation 3
- Shadows of the Damned for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and Xbox One
I cannot, however, figure out what online services these games featured beyond maybe the usual leaderboards/friends list functionality. Half-Life 2 was only available on PlayStation 3 as part of The Orange Box which also included Team Fortress 2. So is it actually TF2 that’s losing support on PlayStation 3?
Similarly confusing, SUDA51 had expressed his desires to include some unique online features in Shadows of the Damned but wasn’t able to implement them back in 2011. What’s left in the retail product, stats and leaderboards? I did some digging this afternoon but couldn’t find any other info on what might be affected. If you’ve played the games and have a better idea, let us know in the comments.
I’ve added the date to the Watch List calendar and we’ll have a page up on the site later. Thanks again to Wakayama_PT for pointing out the updates.
