Dovetail Games announced back on August 16th that with the upcoming release of Train Sim World 3 they would be removing its predecessor from sale on the Epic Games Store, Steam, PlayStation 4 and 5, and Xbox One. The new game launches this coming week on September 6th but the team provided confirmation at the time that owners’ existing content would come forward into the new game. The individual routes included in TSW2 as well as its New Journeys Expansion will also be available to buy for TSW3 shortly after release.
When we announced Train Sim World 3, we shared that your Train Sim World 2 collection would be coming with you when you make the jump to Train Sim World 3. On September 6th, you will no longer see Train Sim World 2 on your preferred platform store page, and you will only see Train Sim World 3, the new editions and most of the add-ons from Train Sim World history.
This doesn’t mean Train Sim World 2 will disappear from your library, it just means you won’t be able to purchase it in store. The three routes included in Train Sim World 2 (Bakerloo Line, Schnellfahrstrecke Köln-Aachen and Sand Patch Grade), as well as New Journeys Expansion will also be available to purchase separately shortly after launch, if you don’t already own them. Going forward we are also removing the ‘Preservation Collection’ branding and introducing a new Train Sim World Compatible logo on previously released add-ons.
Dovetail Games Announcement – August 16, 2022
The team’s full post from August 16th and a new added on September 1st detail much of what’s changing between Train Sim World 2 and 3. Thanks to HandMaskTar for submitting the news and NeedeeYork for reminding me I missed the submission a couple weeks ago. I’ve added the date to the Watch List calendar and will have a page up on the site later.
