Ubisoft announced on Thursday that their entry in the battle royale genre, Hyper Scape, will be shutting down on April 28th. As of Friday morning the game has been removed from the PlayStation and Xbox marketplaces but I was still able to claim it through the Epic Games Store. Unfortunately, I didn’t have time to find my Ubi login, connect the accounts, download, and actually try to launch Hyper Scape. You can also still claim the free-to-play PC title on the Ubisoft Store. However, I think it’s safe to say that the time remaining before April 28th is largely for existing players.
We have made the difficult decision to end development of Hyper Scape and shut the game down as of April 28th. We set out to create a vertical, close-quarters, and fast-paced shooter experience and we are extremely grateful to our community for joining us on our journey. We will be taking key learnings from this game into future products.
To the Hyper Scape community, thank you for your passion and dedication to the world of Neo Arcadia both inside and outside of the game. Your devotion to the game we built will always be cherished.
Sincerely, Hyper Scape
Released in 2020, the game offered a vibrant take on battle royale games but it apparently never found its critical mass of players to keep development going. Thanks to everyone who pointed out the news. I’ve added the date to the Watch List calendar and will have a page up on the site later.
