Rockstar Games has announced plans to retire online play and stat tracking services for three PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 titles before the end of the year. Max Payne 3 and L.A. Noir on PS3 and Xbox 360 will lose their online services on September 16th but Grand Theft Auto Online will be around until December 16th. In all cases Rockstar reiterated that single player, story mode content will remain accessible. Their press release statement follows:
As we continue to move forward with updates and support for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC versions of Grand Theft Auto Online — as well as prepare for this Fall’s launches of the new expanded and enhanced versions of Grand Theft Auto V and Grand Theft Auto Online on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S — the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions of GTA Online, including website stat tracking via the Rockstar Games Social Club, will officially be shutting down on December 16, 2021. In addition, Shark Cash Cards for GTA Online will no longer be sold for the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions after September 15, 2021.
Please note, these changes are strictly for the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of GTA Online, and will have no impact on access to, or progress within, the Grand Theft Auto V Story Mode. Additionally, website stat tracking via the Rockstar Games Social Club and other features for select PS3 and Xbox 360 titles will be shutting down on September 16, 2021.
These include:– Website stat tracking, online multiplayer, and leaderboards for the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of Max Payne 3
– Website stat tracking for the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of L.A. NoireAll these changes will have no impact on access or progress in Story Mode for any of these titles on either platform. We’d like to thank the GTA Online community for their continued support, and look forward to seeing players continue their journey in Los Santos with us on new platforms.
