Quick heads up for fans of the long-running Atelier series, there’s only a little time left to grab the original versions of Atelier Sophie, Firis, and Lydie & Suelle on Steam, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch (only Lydie & Suelle on Switch).
Koei Tecmo has announced that the three entries in the “Mysterious” side series will be delisted on April 21st (Steam) and April 22nd (PS4, likely Switch), and replaced with new DX versions, both individually and in a trilogy bundle. The DX releases include new features, a photo mode, and a bundle of the DLC for each game. But as DehrySA pointed out to us, only the originals are cross-compatible between PlayStation 4 and Vita, and support older operating systems on Steam.
The Vita versions are probably the biggest loss here as the DX releases do look like a decent upgrade but are only coming to Steam, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch. The delisting notice has been added to the Steam and PlayStation 4 game pages but not the Vita versions, giving a sliver of hope that the handheld originals will carry on. Still, if you’ve been waiting to pick them up, today is the day!
