Delisting

The PS2 on PS4 version of Siren (also known as Forbidden Siren in the PAL/EU regions) was delisted exactly at the time in each PSN store region when the October 2024 PS Plus update went live – each territory/region receives store updates at differing times throughout the specific day.

There has been no official announcement of Siren being delisted, but we have been keeping an eye on this game ever since the murmurings of a Siren game releasing were prelude-ed by the South Korean Game Ratings Board posting a new rating for the titular title.

This did lead to internet wide speculation on whether this would be a new game or a re-release of the first title, which was confirmed as the latter once the PlayStation blog had announced the PlayStation Plus Premium line-up for October 2024.

On the same day, an awesome foursome of titles join PlayStation Plus Premium in the form of PS VR2 game The Last Clockwinder and three Classics – Capcom adventure Dino Crisis, terrifying horror Siren and iconic sci-fi shooter R-Type Dimensions EX.

Experience Siren, originally released on PS2, now enhanced with up-rendering, rewind, quick save, and custom video filters.

PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium – October 2024 announcement post

Due to suspicion over the usual behaviour from Sony regarding re-releases of their own games (See the Horizon Zero Dawn Remaster) we suspected that this re-release indicated a removal of the original emulated version on PS4 – most likely as a justification on the publishers side to ‘avoid confusion’ with duplicate store listings and differing emulation features.

This fate will likely be repeated with further First Party PS2 on PS4 titles, meaning any further announcements for a newer version of the these titles will bring the same result as of here.

Especially since many of these earlier releases come with issues specific to PS5 backwards compatibility (Such as corrupted graphics in Ape Escape 2.)

PSN Store description:
UK store –
“Experience Forbidden Siren originally released on the PS2™ system with up-rendering and Trophies.

Download classic horror adventure Forbidden Siren and fight for survival in a remote village infested by demonic “Shibito”. Use stealth tactics, wild weapons and psychic “sightjacking” to evade or subdue your pursuers and escape the nightmare unharmed.

This title has been converted from the PS2™ (PlayStation®2) version to the PlayStation®4 console. Consequently, there may be times where the title plays differently from the PS2™ (PlayStation®2) version, or where some features may cause the title to not function properly. This version does not support the PS2™ (PlayStation®2) system’s peripherals, therefore some functionality may not be available.”

USA Store –
“Experience SIREN originally released on the PS2™ system with up-rendering and Trophies.

Resist the Call

0:00. Midnight. A siren calls and a sea of red water mysteriously surrounds the mountain village Hanuda. Slowly, a terrible force transforms the inhabitants into shibito, undead husks of their old selves, fueled by evil and hate.

Play as one of ten characters caught in a living nightmare. You have three days to learn how their paths intersect as they try to stay alive. Survival depends on your ability to “sightjack” or the power to see through the eyes of friends and foes. There is no one hero. There is little hope.

Will you resist the call of the Siren?”
