Delisting
Prey was delisted from Steam on December 28, 2009, after the game’s supply of Steam keys sold out during an end of the year sale. Publisher 2K did not restock the game’s keys, instead replacing it with BioShock in the sale.
In July of 2009, the IP rights to Prey were sold to ZeniMax Media, just one month following a previous sale of the IP to Radar Group. These changes in ownership may have led to changes in 2K’s distrbution rights to Prey. The game remained available digitally on Xbox 360, and was eventually made a backwards-compatible title in February of 2018.
About the Game
Prey tells the story of Tommy, a Cherokee garage mechanic stuck on a reservation going nowhere. His life changes when an otherworldly crisis forces him to awaken spiritual powers from his long-forgotten birthright. Abducted along with his people to a menacing alien mothership orbiting Earth, he sets out to save himself, his girlfriend and eventually his planet. In Prey, gamers enter an unpredictable world where nothing can be taken for granted.
