Delisting

There has been no official announcement of Beyond Good & Evil HD being delisted, but users and news sites immediately noticed then reported on this title as soon as it disappeared June 19th, 2024.

Ubisoft has pulled its beloved action-adventure Beyond Good and Evil from a number of digital stores, prompting speculation that its previously announced remaster is set to launch very soon.

Over on Steam, Beyond Good and Evil’s store page now reads, “At the request of the publisher, Beyond Good and Evil is unlisted on the Steam store and will not appear in search.”

The title however has not yet been fully removed, as of the current posting date (July 29, 2024) the download is still available to buy on PC from the Ubisoft Store and on the PS3 PlayStation Network store – and if you have purchased the game previously on other platforms where it has been removed, it is still available to be re-downloaded from the account it was purchased on of course.

These delisting events were previously alluded to in November of last year (2023) when a new edition of BG&E appeared out of nowhere, leaking via a pre-development build of the game by accident on Xbox Live before it had even been announced to the public. I myself had even guessed that this would cause a delisting due to similar cases from Ubisoft in the past, it’s just a shame we can’t have forewarning or a premonition for dates before these games actually disappear.

Quoting that previous article here on the site – “Re-release projects like this are a common method for promotion to keep interest in the property/IP higher over time and serves of a reminder on how differing companies are at handling their legacy properties – as sometimes a publisher might even go as far as to remove older versions of a game from stores to force more interest in the newest version.”
