Delisting
Republic: The Revolution was delisted from GOG.com on January 10th, 2011, at the request of the game’s publisher, Rebellion Studios. The GOG team’s full notice follows:
Rebellion Studios has contacted us and asked that we temporarily take Republic: The Revolution down from GOG. If you have already purchased this title, you will still be able to download the game from your bookshelf while it’s unlisted from our catalog. We’ve been told the situation should be resolved shortly. Sorry for anyone if this was going to be what you blew your next paycheck on. We’ll keep you informed as we know more.
Republic: The Revolution temporarily removed from sale
The GOG team alluded to legal issues being the cause of the delisting, but no clear statement has been made since from GOG or the game’s IP owners, Rebellion. The last known update about the game came from an email sent to Rebellion, where they stated that they “have no news for [you] at the moment”.
About the Game
My fellow Comrades of Novistrana!
The time has come to rise up and fight for our freedom. We have suffered in silence under the regime of President Karasov for too long. His reign of fear and oppression is crumbling and it is the time of the people. Now is the time to take back the power that is rightfully ours! Now is the time for the revolution!
After the fall of the mighty Soviet Union, a small Republic, Novistrana, has become a hive of brutality and corruption. A ruthless dictator rules the country with an iron fist and a control based on fear and oppression. With a personal vendetta against him and seeds of discontent spreading throughout the nation, now is the moment to seize power and liberate the masses.
Urraaaa!!!
