Swords of Gargantua delisted on PSVR June 30th, to be shut down Sept. 30th

The team at Thirdverse announced early this morning on Twitter that only the PlayStation VR version of their game, Swords of Gargantua, will be removed from sale and shut down later this year. The game will first be removed from the PlayStation Store on June 30th with services ending on September 30th. The team’s announcement follows:

Thank you for your continued support of “Swords of Gargantua”. This announcement is to inform our users that the PlayStation VR version of “Swords of Gargantua” will discontinue its service on September 30, 2022.

After this date, you will no longer be able to play the PlayStation VR version of “Swords of Gargantua” app, but can still continue to enjoy the Meta Quest and PCVR versions of the game. The development team would like to thank everyone who has enjoyed the PlayStation VR version since its launch on the platform.

Although Swords of Gargantua can be played single-player it requires access to a server in order to launch. After September 30th the game will become completely unplayable on PlayStation VR. No further explanation was given by Thirdverse at the time. As stated, the game will remain available for Valve Index, Oculus, and Vive VR platforms. Anyone interested in the PlayStation release (AU, EU, JP, NA) can still pick it up until June 30th.

I’ve added the date to the Watch List calendar and will have a page up on the site later. Thanks to Wakayama_PT for pointing out the news today.
