Hatoful Boyfriend titles leaving PlayStation and mobile platforms at the end of May

[UPDATE 06/17/21] Just following up here, the games are still available as of June 17th. It is unclear why they have not been delisted. We will continue to check their availability.

The bird-based visual novel series that was all over the place a few years back won’t be nearly as all over the place after the end of May. Developer Moa tweeted Friday evening that the original Hatoful Boyfriend on PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita, iOS, and Android will no longer be available “at the end of the month [of May]”. The festive follow-up, Hatoful Boyfriend: Holiday Star, will also be leaving PlayStation platforms at the same time.

Moa added in a reply that the games will be delisted “because the publishing agreements on those platforms are coming to an end”. Until just a week ago Devolver Digital was the publisher of both games but on May 14th the Steam versions changed hands to Mediatonic who will keep them available on Valve’s platform. If you’re suddenly inspired to dig into the titles you can find links to buy the various versions below. As a reminder, Hatoful Boyfriend was available to PlayStation Plus subscribers in 2017 so you may already own that one.
