It’s not a delisting or a relisting but it’s always great to see older games on sale again, especially when they’ve never been available digitally before. Activision and GOG.com teamed up for “Star Trek Day” on September 8th and announced the release of eight classic PC Star Trek titles, each priced at $10.
GOG.COM and Activision are celebrating 55 years of Star Trek by bringing some of its most iconic and critically acclaimed video games back and updated to work on modern operating systems. It’s a perfect opportunity for both devoted Trekkies and new players to discover and enjoy these amazing titles, as every game on this list offers a different experience and the chance to meet some of the most beloved characters.
GOG.com Announcement
The titles include Star Trek: Bridge Commander, Star Trek: Voyager – Elite Force, Star Trek: Elite Force II, Star Trek: Away Team, Star Trek: Starfleet Command III, Star Trek: Hidden Evil, and coming soon Star Trek: Armada and Armada II. GOG’s news post has a quick summary of each title if you’d like to read more.
The games were originally released between 1999 and 2003 exclusively at retail. As you can imagine for PC games of that vintage, they’ve become increasingly hard to run so these digital releases open them up to a wider audience, despite some caveats. These aren’t remasters or HD updates; the graphics haven’t been remade for higher resolutions, there’s no widescreen support, and multiplayer modes that rely on long-gone network services only function after some modded workarounds.
