Delisting

Breath of Fire V: Dragon Quarter (ブレス オブ ファイアV ドラゴンクォーター ) was likely delisted from the PlayStation 3 in Japan between January and March of 2019. On March 9th, 2019 Twitter user @sankhara0 confirmed the game’s removal although it could have been delisted some time before.

Considering that Breath of Fire is a wholly owned property of Capcom’s, this specific delisting looks to be related to the game’s soundtrack, namely the vocal end theme “Castle • Imitation” by J-pop performer Chihiro Onitsuka. Additionally, according to Wikipedia, “for the first time in the series, the music of Breath of Fire: Dragon Quarter was created by an outside employee, Hitoshi Sakimoto, with Yasunori Mitsuda serving as music producer on the project.” Given the complexity of music licensing and intellectual property rights in Japan, this seems to be the most likely cause for the delisting.
