Aftercharge shuts down June 30th on Steam and Xbox One

Chainsawesome Games announced on June 1st that their 3-v-3 multiplayer shooter, Aftercharge, will be shutting down on June 30th, 2021. It was removed from sale on Steam by May 29th and on Xbox One shortly after. Aftercharge launched on Steam and Xbox One in January of 2019 but has cost more to keep online than it has made in profits for “far too long” according to the team’s announcement which you can read in full below:

It is with great sadness that we are announcing today that Aftercharge will no longer be playable on June 30th 2021.

As of today, it is no longer possible to purchase the game anywhere and all existing players have been rewarded with 16 000 Aftercoins. At the end of the month, we will shut down the servers and effectively erase Aftercharge from existence.

It is a very painful news to share. We spent 3 years developing and marketing Aftercharge and those years are full of great memories. We really loved that game and believed in its potential. For far too long, our monthly server costs have outweighed the revenues generated by the game. It is time to move on.

If you have purchased Aftercharge recently on Steam or the Xbox Store, we can only imagine your disappointment in reading this. We encourage you to look into the refund options of each platform. If your attempts are unfructuous, please send us an email at [email protected] and we will see how we can make it up.

Chainsawesome Games lives on and thanks to our most recent release, Knight Squad 2, the future’s looking bright. If you were a fan of us through Aftercharge, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts. We invite you to join our studio’s Discord and come talk to us and the rest of the fans.

Stay Awesome!

I’ve added the date to the Watch List calendar and will have a page up on the site soon. Thanks to Wakayama_PT for pointing out the news.
