A notice was recently added to the title screen of Rampage Games’ 2019 sci-fi MOBA, Genesis, on PlayStation 4. “Due to the adjustment of the company strategy, Genesis will terminate operations at 2:00 (utc+0) on April 10, 2022,” the announcementreads. “We are very sorry for the discontinuation of Genesis, and apologize for the inconvenience caused to you by this discontinuation!”. You can read the full announcement in the screenshot below.
First launched in Early Access on Steam, the team’s focus then shifted exclusively to the PlayStation 4 version. Progress on Steam apparently stopped after the last beta period ended in early April of 2019. Social accounts for the game, along with its homepage, have since been suspended.
Interestingly, despite the announcement stating that the game would no longer be accessible to new players after January 7th, 2021, I was able to download, launch, and start playing Genesis this morning. In-game purchases were also available to buy. I wasn’t able to find any open lobbies after getting through the tutorial but in-game replays show some matches taking place over the last several days. For those wondering, it looks like the Trophy list for the game does not appear until you unlock a Trophy. Based on some discussion on PSNProfiles forums, it’s not so easy to even unlock a bronze Trophy.
I’ve added the April date to the Watch List calendar and will have a page up on the site soon. Thanks to Wakayama_PT for pointing out the news.
