Blitz Games Studio was a publisher and developer of video games founded in 1990 and headquartered in Leamington Spa, UK. While the internal studio worked with several licensed properties the corporate culture enabled anyone to pitch a game idea. This was the foundation of several original releases from Blitz Games and their sub-studios. The Blitz 1UP program, which ran from 2008 – 2011 was a further initiative to foster game development by offering free advice, consultation and QA assistance.
With difficulty securing funding for further development — and the closure of THQ who Blitz frequently worked with — the decision was reached in September 2013 to close the studio.
